Vapa Ilish/Hilsa fish in Microwave – 2 minutes preparation

Hi Friends,

Today I am going to make a 2 minutes preparation with Hilsa Fish. It’s a traditional Bengali Recipe.Needs very few ingredients and it can be made in no time.

Lets take a look into the ingredients and then the procedure to make – Vapa Ilish/Hilsa in Microwave.

CookingTime – 2 minutes Serve – 4

Ingredients:

  1. Hilsa Fish – 4 pieces
  2. Mustard Seeds – 4 tbsp
  3. Green Chilly – 2 pcs
  4. Slit Green Chilly – 4 pcs
  5. Sugar – a pinch
  6. Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
  7. Salt to taste.
  8. Mustard Oil – 4tbsp

Instruction:

  1. Wash the fish and marinate with 1/4 tbsp. of salt.Keep aside until use.
  2. By adding 1/2 tsp.,two green chilly and half cup of water grind the Mustard seeds into a smooth paste.Transfer it to a bowl,cover it and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  3. Put the Mustard Seed Paste into a microwave safe bowl.To this add turmeric powder,little salt,sugar and Mustard Oil.Add 2 tbsp. of water.
  4. Now add Fish pieces and slit green chilly. Mix the mustard paste mix with the fish pieces evenly.Cover the bowl with a cling film. Prick the cling film once with a toothpick or any sharp object.This is to release the vapor.
  5. Now microwave at high power in 1.5-2 minutes.Take out the bowl from microwave and give 10 minutes of standing time.
  6. Vapa Ilish in microwave is ready to eat now.Enjoy this delicacy with white rice.
