Party Snacks – Cheese stuffed Potato Roll/Ball

Hi Friends,

Today I am posting a deep fried snacks recipe made with potato. It is a simple recipe and very delicious. It is made with cheese stuffing and coated with plain corn flex (sugarless). The process of making this snack is very easy,takes few minutes to prepare and with few ingredients. It is a perfect party snacks recipe, can be served as a tea time snacks/appetizer.

Cooking time – 40 minutes.  Serve – 4.

Ingredients –

  1. Potato – 4.
  2. Corn flakes  – 2 cups.
  3. Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
  4. Grated ginger – 1/2 tsp.
  5. Red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp.
  6. Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp.
  7. Salt to taste.
  8. Bread crumbs – 2 tbsp.
  9. Cheese cube – 100 grams (cut into small pieces)
  10. Flour(maida)  1 cup.
  11. Corn flour – 2 tbsp.
  12. Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp.
  13. Oil (veg.) for deep frying.

Instructions –

Wash potato and pressure cook till soft. Peel the skin off and mash well. In a large bowl add the mashed potato,onion,ginger,chilly,garam masala,salt and bread crumbs. Mix all the ingredients properly and make a dough. The dough should be dry.(You can add extra bread crumbs to remove the moisture from the potato dough). Cover the bowl and allow it to rest for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes from the potato dough make balls (8 nos.). Take one ball, put a cheese cube inside the ball and roll it slightly. Repeat the same process for all the balls. Keep aside.

In a bowl add flour,corn flour,salt mix well. Add water to make a medium thick batter (like crep batter). In a flat dish put the corn flex and crush it lightly with hand. Take the potato balls dip into the flour batter and coat with corn flex.

Heat oil in a frying pan,when it is hot reduce the heat. Add the balls and fry until golden brown. Fry 3 to 4 balls at a time. Increase the heat and take out them with a slotted spoon and keep in paper towels to drain excess oil.

Delicious potato snacks is ready,sprinkle pepper powders on top. Serve hot with ketchup/chutney.
