Today I am sharing with you a delicious sweet recipe made with Ash Gourd. In Bengal it is called Chal Kumror Sondesh. It is a popular sweet in Bengal. The sweet is nutritious and very easy to prepare. To this sweet you can add little food color.
Cooking time – 45 minutes. Serve – 4
Ingredients –
1.Ash Gourd (grated) – 2 cups.
2.Khoya or Milk powder – 100 grams.
3.Shredded coconut – 1 cup.
4.Sugar – 1 cup.
5.Ghee – 2 tbsp.
6.Cardamom powder – 1 tsp.
7.Raisins (for garnishing)
Method –
1.Peel the Ash Gourd. Discard the seeds. Using a grater grate the Gourd. Boil the gourd in 3 cups of water for 4 to 5 minutes and drain well.
2.Heat ghee in a non stick frying pan and reduce the heat. Add the Gourd, stir fry for 2 minutes. Remove pan from the heat. To this add Khoya, Coconut and sugar. Mix well. Place the pan on low heat. Cook on slow heat with stirring continuously.
3.When the mixture comes together and leaves the sides of the pan mix cardamom powder. Remove pan from the heat, transfer the mixture to a bowl and let it cool for 5 minutes. Grease your palm, take a small portion of the mix, make a ball and shape with greased mould.
Delicious Ash Gourd sweet is ready, garnish with Raisins and serve as a dessert.
