Today I am sharing with you a delicious non-veg. Recipe made with Fish Egg. It is a typical Bengali recipe, very easy to prepare. In this recipe I used fresh Rohu Fish egg. You can use the eggs of any big carp, like Katla or Kalibaush.
Cooking time – 35 minutes Serve – 4
Ingredients – [ for the fish egg omelette ]
1.Fish egg – 200 grams.
2.Onion – 1(finely chopped)
3.Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp.
4.Garlic paste – 1/2 tsp.
5.Turmeric powder – a pinch.
6.Chilly powder – 1/4 tsp.
7.Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp.
8.Corn flour – 1 tsp.
9.Salt to taste.
Method –
1.Wash the egg very well and discard the thin membrane. Put it in a large bowl and mash well. To this add all the ingredients. Mix well to make a thick batter (add little water if needed).
2.Heat 1/2 tsp.of oil in a frying pan, reduce the heat. Brush the oil on the surface of the pan. Pour 2 tbsp.of egg batter and spread it in a circular shape.Cook on both sides. When it is golden brown in color, take out gently from the pan, put in a flat dish. Repeat the process until all the batter is used,
Ingredients – [ For the gravy ]
1.Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp.
2.Bay leaves – 2
3.Onion (large) – 1 (chopped)
4.Tomato (medium) – 1 (chopped)
5.ginger paste – 1/2 tsp.
6.Garlic paste – 1/2 tsp.
7.chilly powder – 1/2 tsp.
8.Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp.
9.Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp.
10.Salt to taste.
11.Sugar – a pinch.
12.Oil – 2 tbsp.
13.Ghee – 1 tsp.
14.Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp.
Method –
1.Grind onion and tomato to a paste. To this add ginger,garlic,chilly,turmeric and cumin powder, mix well. Keep the masala mix aside.
2.Heat oil and ghee in a frying pan, reduce the heat. Add cumin and bay leaves. When the cumin looks brown in color, add the masala mix, sugar and 1/2 cup of water. Saute until the raw smell of the masala goes off. Add 11/2 to 2 cups of water and salt, let it bring to boil. Slowly add the Egg Omelettes and garam masala powder and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
Remove pan from heat, cover and give at least 20 minutes standing time. The delicious Fish Egg curry is ready, serve with Rice or Roti.
