Today I am posting a healthy one pot meal Sabudana Khichuri recipe made with Sabudana and moong dal (golden gram). Sabudana khichuri is a popolar snacks in Western India, made without dal. I prepared a nutritious Khichuri dish made with sabudana,dal and various vegetables. It is a simple recipe,very quick and easy to prepare and with few ingredients. This beautiful dish can be served for Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner.For this dish use large sabudana.
Cooking time – 40 minutes. Serve – 4
Ingredients –
- Sabudana – 200 grams.
- Moong dal – 200 grams.
- Dry red chilly – 2.
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp.
- Bay leaves – 2
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp.
- Grated ginger – 1/2 tsp
- Slit green chilly – 4
- Salt to taste.
- Sugar –1/2 tsp.
- Ghee – 1 tsp.
- Oil – 1 tbsp.
- Chopped vegetables – 1 bowl(potato,carrot,tomato, peas,broccoli )
- Chopped coriander leaves – one handful (optional.)
Instructions –
Wash and soak the sabudana in enough water (5 to 6 cups) for 3 to 4 hours. After 4 hours transfer them to a colander. Place a pan on low heat, add the moong dal. Dry roast the dal till light brown (stir continuously).Wash the dal, keep aside. Heat oil in the frying pan, add dry red chilly,cumin seeds. Fry till brown. Add ginger, bay leaves and the roasted dal. mix well and saute for 2 minutes on slow heat. Add 3 to 4 cups of water,salt and turmeric powder. Cook for 7 to 8 minutes until the dal is half cooked.Add the chopped vegetables,sugar and slit green chilly. Cook till the vegetables are cooked. The dal should have some water. If needed add 2 cups of warm water and allow it to boil.
At last add the soaked sabudana , mix well. Cover the pan and turn off the gas (no need to cook). Give it 10 minutes standing time. Mix ghee and garnish with coriander leaves.
Tasty and healthy Bengali Sabudana Khichuri is ready, serve hot.
