Today I am posting a quick and easy breakfast recipe made with flattened rice – it is Chirer Pulao. It is a famous Bengali dish,nutritious and also very tasty to eat.It is made with Chira,vegetables and dry fruits.It is perfect to serve hot in breakfast or to pack in lunch box.
Cooking time – 25 minutes. Serve – 4.
Ingredients –
1.Flattened rice – 200 grams.
2.Carrot – 100 grams (finely chopped)
3.French beans – 50 grams.(chopped)
4.Fresh peas – 50 grams.
5.Chopped Cauliflower florets – 1 cup.
6.Bay leaves – 2.
7.Green chilly – 2 (chopped)
8.Finely chopped ginger – 1 tsp.
9.Onion (large) – 1 (chopped)
10.Salt to taste.
11.Sugar – 1/4 tsp.
12.Veg oil – 2 tbsp.
13.Ghee – 1 tsp.
14.Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp.
15.Pepper powder – 1 tsp.
16.Nuts/raisins – 2 tbsp.(optional)
Method –
1.Wash flattened rice lightly and keep in a colander (for at least 20 minutes). Boil chopped cauliflower florets in water for 2 minutes and drain.
2.Heat oil in a frying pan,add bay leaves. Stir fry for 30 seconds. Reduce the heat,add onion and fry till light brown. Add carrot,beans,peas,cauliflower,dry fruits,ginger and salt. Fry for 3 to 4 minutes. Add ghee,green chilly,sugar and cook for 1 minute. Remove pan from the heat, add flattened rice, pepper powder,garam masala powder and mix slowly. Place the pan in slow heat and stir the mixture slowly for 2 minutes.
Tasty and healthy Flattened Rice Pulao is ready, serve hot.
