Today I am sharing with you a delicious Fish Momo recipe. It is a simple recipe made with Bombay Duck (Loitta mach).It is very quick and easy to prepare and with few ingredients. This tasty snacks can be served as a starter/appetizer. You can make Momo in a steamer/Idli stand/pressure cooker or Microwave with Microwave safe steamer.
Time – 30 minutes. Serve –
Ingredients –
- Flour (maida) – 2 cups.
- Salt – 1/4 tsp.
- Water – as needed
Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Add little water and knead well to make a nice soft dough. Knead the dough for 5 to6 minutes. Cover the dough with a damp cloth. Cover the bowl with a lid and keep aside for 10 minutes or until use.
For the stuffing –
- Bombay duck – 500 grams.
- Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
- Ginger paste – 1/4 tsp.
- Garlic paste – 1 tsp.
- Chopped spring onion – 4 tbsp.(optional)
- Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp.
- Green chilly – 2 (finely chopped)
- Lime juice – 1 tbsp.
- Salt to taste.
Instructions –
Take the fish,discard head. Remove tail and fins,wash well. Boil 4 cups of water in a pan, add the fish and boil for 2 to 3 minutes. Take out the boiled fish with a slotted spoon and keep in a strainer and squeeze out all the water. Now discard the bones.
Put the de-veined fish in a large bowl. Mash well. Add all the stuffing ingredients and mix them well.Check the seasoning.
Take the flour dough and knead for another 5 minutes. Divide the dough into small balls. Using dry flour roll each ball into a thin circle(as thin as possible). Place small amount of stuffing in the center of the circle. Start pleating from one side and join in the center. Prepare all the momos, cover with wet cloth and keep aside until use.
Grease steamer pan with oil,arrange the momos in the pan(keep space between them). Steam till the outer cover becomes transparent (for about 10 to 12 minutes). It depends on the thickness of the outer cover.
Delicious Fish Momo is ready. Arrange them in serving plate,serve with tomato-garlic sauce/tomato-chilly sauce.
