Today I am sharing with you a South Indian snacks – Mysore Bonda recipe in Bengali style. It is an easy to make recipe and takes few minutes to prepare. The snacks is very tasty to eat. It is perfect for parties.
Cooking time – 45 minutes. Serve – 4
Ingredients –
1.Potato (large) – 1
2.Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
3.Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp.
4.Garlic paste – 1/2 tsp.
5.Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp.
6.Curry leaves – 4 tbsp.
7.Flour (Maida) – 2 cups.
8.Rice flour – 1/2 cup.
9.Curd – 2 tbsp.
10.Salt to taste.
11.Sugar – 1/4 tsp.
12.Green chilly – 4 (chopped)
13.Baking soda – a pinch.
14.Oil for deep frying.
Method –
1.Take the potato,peel the skin off and cut into cubes. Boil the cubes and mash until smooth.
2.Heat 1 tbsp.of oil in a frying pan,add mustard seeds. When crackling add onions and curry leaves. Fry till onions are translucent.Add ginger-garlic paste,saute for 1 minute.Add the mashed potato, mix well and cook for 1 minute. Remove pan from the heat,transfer the mashed potato to a large bowl. To this add flour, Rice flour,curd,green chilly,salt,sugar and baking soda. Mix very well. Add little water and make a thick paste.
3.Heat oil in a frying pan,when hot reduce the heat.Take a small portion of the paste and drop into the hot oil. Fry till it turns golden brown on both sides.Fry 3 to 4 Bondas at a time. Take out the fried Bondas from oil with a slotted spoon, keep in paper towels. Repeat the same process with rest of the paste.
The delicious snacks is ready, serve with tomato ketchup.
