Today I am sharing with you a very unique Dahi Vada recipe made with sweet potato. The dish is really simple to prepare and very tasty also. This healthy dish is very easy to prepare, you can easily prepare any time at home.
Cooking time —-30 minutes. Serve –4
Ingredients-
(For the Vadas)-
1.Sweet potato -400 grams
2.Bread slice —4 nos.
3.Asafoetida –1/4 tsp.
4.Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp.
5. Green chilly paste – 1/2 tsp.
6.Salt to taste.
7. White oil for deep frying.
Instructions –
Boil the sweet potato until they are soft. Peel the skin off and mash them finely. Grind the bread slices. In a large mixing bowl put the potato, bread slices(crumbed), salt, ginger-chilly paste , mix them very well. Set aside. Now make a salty water where you will soak the fried Vadas. In a bowl add lukewarm water, salt and asafoetida. Stir with a spoon and keep aside.
Heat oil in a frying pan. Make vadas from the sweet potato dough and fry over medium heat until light golden brown in color. Increase the heat and take out the fried vadas with a slotted spoon and transfer them into the lukewarm water for 3 to 4 minutes or until they sink. Once soaked gently squeeze them to remove excess water. Arrange the vadas in a plate. Now prepare dahi for the dish.
Ingredients –
1.Dahi/Curd——2 cups.
2.Salt to taste.
3.Sugar —-1 tsp.
4.Black pepper powder – 1/2 tsp.
Take dahi in a bowl. To this add salt,sugar and pepper. Mix very well or whisk well. Keep aside.
Now dry roast 1 tbsp of cumin seeds and 2 red chilly. Grind to a powder.
Take the plate of Vadas, pour curd over them, followed by green chutney, red chutney, cumin-chilly powder and black salt. At last sprinkle sev (jhuri bhaja).
Delicious Sweet Potato Dahi Vada is ready——serve cold.
